Gambling Addiction

Gambling is an example of a behavioral addiction that some people find difficult to control. Addicted gamblers can become so involved with gambling that their behavior resembles drug addiction. Addicted gamblers constantly seek out oppurtunities to gamble and are not sensitive to any negative financial and social consequences. I am well aware of this because my uncle is addicted to gambling and him and his family went through a lot of problems. He constantly fought with his wife, and it also caused problems with his kids. When gambling reaches the level of an addiction, negative behaviors ensue, which are detrimental to a person's well being. Gambling is pleasureable because it activates the mesolimbic dopamine system. The claim is based on the association between gambling behavior and drug or alcohol use.
